Answer Key

Python · Modules 1–10 · Student wording will vary for definitions
1print('Hello World') — Will display text to console.
2input('Press Enter') — Pauses program and waits for user to press Enter key.
3# This is a comment — # is used to explain code - Python ignores text after the #
4name = 'Alice' — Variables store values using = (assignment operator)
5name = "Alice" — Strings are text in quotes.
6age = 15 — Integers are whole numbers with no decimal.
7height = 5.5 — Floats are numbers with a decimal point.
85 + 3 — + adds two numbers together.
910 - 4 — - subtracts the right number from the left.
106 * 2 — * multiplies two numbers together.
1115 / 3 — / always returns a float - 15 / 3 gives 5.0 not 5.
12"Hello" + "World" — Concatenation joins strings with + but no space is added.
13"Hello" + " " + "World" — Add " " between strings to include a space.
14"Hi " + name — Joins the literal string with the value stored in name.
15"*" * 10 — * repeats the string - "*" * 10 gives **********.
16"-" * 5 — Repeats the - character 5 times.
17"Ha" * 3 — Repeats Ha 3 times giving HaHaHa.
18"=" * 20 — Repeats the = character 20 times.
19len("Hello") — len() counts characters - len("Hello") gives 5.
20len("Hello World") — Spaces count too - len("Hello World") gives 11.
21len(name) — Returns the number of characters in whatever name stores.
22int("5") — Converts the string "5" to the integer 5.
23float("3.14") — Converts the string "3.14" to the decimal 3.14.
24str(42) — Converts the integer 42 to the string "42".
25int(3.9) — Truncates the decimal to an integer giving 3 not 4.
