Seating Plan Maker

Arrange the room, seat the class, print the plan. Free, no account.

Start from rows, pairs, groups or a horseshoe, drag desks to match your room, then seat the class at random or A–Z. Students away today show as empty seats, and the plan prints as a black-and-white A4 page: the board at the top for the class, or at the bottom as you see the room from the front.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need an account?

No. Nothing to sign up for or install — it runs straight from this page.

Are my students’ names sent anywhere?

No. The names, the rooms and the seating stay in this browser on this computer and are never sent to Cloodit.

Can I keep two students apart?

Yes. Pick a student, choose who to keep them apart from, and Random seats them away from each other. You can also lock a seat, or ask for a student to sit near the front. These notes are never drawn on the plan or printed.

How do I print it for a relief teacher?

Press Print the plan, choose the view and how names are shown, and make the PDF. It is a plain black-and-white A4 page. “Teacher’s view” turns the room round so the board is at the bottom, as you see it from the front.

What happens when someone is away?

Open Who’s here today and untick them. Their seat shows as empty for today only, and everyone is back tomorrow. The same away list is used by Hangman, the Random Name Picker Wheel and the Random Team Generator.

Can I share my room with a colleague?

Yes. Copy the room code and send it. It carries the desks and the room size, never any names.

Does it work on a whiteboard?

Yes. Press “Show on the board” for full screen.
