Antivirus software
A program that detects, blocks and removes malicious programs from a device.
Understanding Antivirus software in VCE Cyber Security
What it does: This describes exactly what quarantine means in antivirus software. Real-time scanning checks activity as it happens, not just on a schedule. Detecting malware is a core function of antivirus software. Once detected, antivirus software can remove malicious files. Quarantine isolates a suspicious file rather than deleting it outright. Updates keep the signature database current against new malware. Scheduled scanning lets a device be checked at regular intervals. Antivirus software's purpose is protection, not creating threats.
Common mistakes: Storing web pages is a server's job, not antivirus software's job. Antivirus software does scan files - that's how it finds malware.
