The 14 key terms
- 1emerging digital tool
- A new or fast-changing technology, like an AI assistant, online whiteboard or interactive-video maker, that creators use to make and share content in new ways.
- 2fit for purpose
- Choosing a tool because its features match what the content must do and who will use it, then justifying the choice with reasons like ease of use, device support and cost.
- 3<button>
- An HTML element that creates a clickable button. The type attribute controls its behaviour: submit, reset, or button.
- 4action
- The <form> attribute that specifies the URL where the form data is sent when the user submits. Without it, data is sent to the current page URL.
- 5<video controls>
- The <video> element embeds a video in a page. Its src attribute gives the file, and controls adds play and pause buttons. The <audio> element works the same way for sound.
- 6<a href="page2.html">
- A link that jumps the viewer to another page or section when clicked, so they choose their own path through interactive content. Use #id to jump to a section.
- 7alt
- An attribute on <img> that provides a text description of the image, shown when the image fails to load and read aloud by screen readers for accessibility.
- 8captions and transcript
- Captions show spoken words as on-screen text. A transcript is the full text of audio or video. Both help deaf, hard-of-hearing and no-sound viewers. Always check auto-captions.
- 9contrast
- How different the text colour is from the background colour. High contrast, like black text on white, with large enough text, makes words easy to read.
- 10different users, different needs
- One digital system can suit one user well and fail another, because users differ in age, ability and experience. Features like read-aloud and large text help.
- 11Machine learning
- AI learns patterns from large amounts of training data, then uses those patterns to make predictions or generate content.
- 12Responsible generative AI use
- Using AI to draft text or images, then checking its output for errors and bias, saying you used the tool, and never typing in personal data.
- 13user testing
- Watching real members of your audience use your content on a phone and a computer, then recording what confused them and what to change.
- 14share settings
- The options that control who can open your work and what they can do: view, comment or edit. Check them and links, and credit reused media.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need an account?
No. Hangman runs straight from this page — no account, no sign-up, nothing to install. If you add your class names, they are saved in your own browser and never sent to Cloodit.
How do I play it with my class?
Put the page on your whiteboard or projector and press Play. The class calls out letters and you click or type them. Six wrong letters and the word gets away. After every word its definition appears, so each round ends on the meaning, not just the spelling.
Can I use my own words?
Yes. The free Hangman generator at cloodit.com/hangman/ takes any list: one word or phrase per line, with a definition after a dash if you want it shown at the end of the round.
Can I put my students' names in?
Yes. Add your class list and a random student is called for each word. The list stays in this browser on this computer, so it is still there next lesson.
Are the worksheets free too?
Yes. Every module in this journey has a free printable worksheet with a full answer key, and there are crosswords and word searches built from the same key terms.
