Years 5–6 Creating Digital Solutions · Modules 41–50 · Student wording will vary for definitions
present a design — To show your sketch, explain how each part helps the user, and ask others for feedback. Listen to what they say so you can improve your design.
evaluate a design — To check a design against criteria, like easy to read, easy to use and meets the requirements, using a checklist, user feedback and evidence to show if each one is met.
modify a design — Change one thing in your design, like size, position or wording, because of feedback. Then check it again. Change one thing at a time and save each version.
visual programming editor — A screen where you build programs by snapping blocks together. It has a stage that shows the program, sprites that act, a block palette and a script area.
when green flag clicked — An event block that starts the script stacked under it. It is a hat block that sits at the top, and the program begins when you click the green flag.
when space key pressed — An event block that waits for a key to be pressed. Each time you press the key you chose, the blocks stacked under it run. You can pick a different key from the drop-down list.
say — The say block makes a sprite show a speech bubble with text, so the program can give output to the user. Say for 2 seconds hides it after a time. Use join to add a variable.
move 10 steps — A motion block that moves a sprite forward 10 steps in the direction it faces. Other motion blocks, like turn 15 degrees and go to x y, change which way it faces or where it is.
sequence — Blocks snapped under one another run from top to bottom, one at a time, so the order of the blocks changes what the sprite does.
Make a Variable — A block button that creates a named box to store a value, like a score. You choose a clear name, and a tick box shows or hides the variable on the stage.
