Understanding Matching a robot task to its role in IGCSE Computer Science Paper 1
What it does: Helping with an operation is a health care task, so the role is medicine. Moving goods can be industry (inside a factory) or transport (on roads), so check where the robot works. Cleaning a home is a household task, so the role is domestic. Moving people from place to place is transport. Robots that amuse visitors at theme parks, in films or as toys are entertainment robots. Some tasks overlap. In an exam, use clues like the place and the purpose to choose the best area. Picking crops is harvesting, so the role is agriculture. Welding parts on a production line is manufacturing, so the role is industry.
Common mistakes: The IF statement is missing THEN. It should be IF task = "welds doors" THEN. A robot that welds car doors works in industry. A robot that helps a surgeon works in medicine, not industry. The line should be area ← "medicine".
