Disaster recovery plan feature: evacuation
A set of steps that gets people safely out of a site to an assembly point during an emergency like a fire. People come first, before any equipment or data recovery begins.
Understanding Disaster recovery plan feature: evacuation in VCE Data Analytics U4O2
What it does: The pseudo-steps show that evacuation happens first and data recovery begins only once the site is declared safe. A defined route from a work area to an exit and then to the assembly point is a key part of an evacuation procedure. Restoring data is a different feature (restoration). Evacuation is about the safety of people. An assembly point is a safe, agreed meeting place where staff can be counted to check everyone got out. Equipment and data can be replaced or restored from backups. People cannot, so they leave immediately.
Common mistakes: Data recovery can only begin once everyone is confirmed safe. The line should wait until all_people_safe, not until data_restored, which would put data ahead of people. Lifts must not be used in a fire because they can fail or trap people. The evacuation route should use the stairs: use_stairs(route).
