VCE Data Analytics U3O1

VCE Data Analytics Unit 3 Outcome 1 — Data analytics — is where students use databases, spreadsheets and data visualisation software to manipulate and analyse real data, and design visualisations that answer a question clearly.

This page lists the 41 free modules written for this outcome: field sizes, SQL column types and one-to-many relationships; Boolean operators in WHERE clauses and exporting query results; authentic data from large repositories and CSV, XLSX, JSON and XML files; existence, type and range checks and spreadsheet validation rules; removing duplicates, handling missing values and fixing text, numbers and dates; range, correlation with CORREL, trendlines, distributions and skew; exploratory, presentation and interactive visualisations, and static, live and dynamic ones; visual hierarchy and clarity of message; AI features in software, machine learning and predictions with FORECAST; and checking that a chart represents its data. Each module includes real practice questions and a full answer key.

The full journey below also uses the VCE Applied Computing Unit 1 data analysis, spreadsheet and SQL modules where the topic is the same, so it is a complete course for the outcome. Teachers can assign the whole outcome, or one key knowledge area at a time, with progress tracking, class sprints and badges.

Artificial intelligence trends in data analytics (9 modules)

130
Artificial intelligence features in software tools Smart tools inside everyday software, like Copilot in Excel, that suggest formulas and charts, answer plain-English questions and find insights automatically.
131
Writing a prompt to generate a data visualisation An instruction to an AI tool that names the data fields, chart type, title, axis labels, colours and audience so it can build a clear, suitable chart.
132
Refining a visualisation prompt Reviewing the AI's chart, then sending a follow-up prompt that names exactly what to change, such as labels, chart type or detail, and repeating until it is right.
133
Checking an AI-generated visualisation against the data Compare every value, label and axis scale in an AI-generated chart with the original data, and look for invented figures, before you trust or use the chart.
135
Machine learning for predictions Training a model on past data so it learns patterns and can predict outcomes for new data, such as a category (classification) or a number (numeric prediction).
136
Statistical modelling to make predictions A rule built from past data, like a regression line, that uses the relationship between variables to estimate new values. A strong r makes the estimates more reliable.
137
Making predictions with FORECAST Estimates a new y value for a given x by extending the trend of existing data, e.g. predicting next year's sales. It is less reliable the further x is beyond the known data.
138
Predictions, decisions and recommendations from models A model uses data to predict what will happen, support decisions and recommend options to users, such as suggested products.
139
Limits and reliability of predictions How much you can trust a prediction. It drops with small samples, outliers and predicting far beyond your data, so always state how uncertain the prediction is.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are these worksheets free?

Yes — every worksheet and its answer key is free to view, download, and print, with no account required to access any individual module.

Do I need an account?

No account is needed to view or print a worksheet. A free teacher account adds extras like assigning modules to a class and tracking progress automatically — it takes under three minutes to set up and doesn't need a credit card.

What year level is this for?

This curriculum is aligned to the Australian Curriculum (ACARA) and Victorian Curriculum, spanning roughly Years 3 to 10 — from first sequencing and variables through to object-oriented programming and advanced data structures. Start wherever matches your class's current level; each module builds on the last.

Can I print them?

Yes — every module has a one-click Print Worksheet button that generates a printable page with the practice questions and a full answer key.

Is this aligned to a curriculum?

Yes — the module sequence is mapped to the Australian Curriculum (ACARA) and Victorian Curriculum, and a class's progress is reported back against those curriculum bands (e.g. ACARA Years 5–6 sequencing and iteration, Years 7–8 functions and data structures), not just a generic difficulty scale.

Can students use this without a teacher?

Yes — students can start any module and practice directly, no class or account required. Joining a teacher's class with a class code adds progress tracking, class badges, and live Sprints, but isn't needed to work through the worksheets or modules solo.

Do I need to know VCE Data Analytics U3O1 myself to teach this?

No — every module comes with a full worked answer key, and Cloodit tracks who's stuck automatically, so you don't need to solve each exercise yourself before assigning it or be able to debug a student's work line by line.

Cloodit turns curriculum-aligned coding content into journeys students work through one biome at a time.
