Wireless Personal Area Networks (WPANs)
A network that wirelessly connects devices over a very short range around one person, typically using Bluetooth.
Understanding Wireless Personal Area Networks (WPANs) in VCE Cyber Security
What it does: This describes what pairing achieves when setting up a WPAN. This is a common real-world example of a WPAN in use. A WPAN's whole design is built around very short-range connections. Bluetooth is the most common technology behind WPAN connections. Pairing links two devices so they can communicate over a WPAN. A WPAN covers a much smaller range than a LAN, not wider. A mobile phone can create a WPAN to connect nearby devices. This is the core definition of a WPAN.
Common mistakes: A WPAN covers a very short range, not wide distances. Devices usually need to pair before connecting over a WPAN.
