Role of robots in domestic settings
A robot that does household jobs, such as vacuuming floors, mowing lawns or cleaning windows, saving people time and effort at home.
Understanding Role of robots in domestic settings in IGCSE Computer Science Paper 1
What it does: Helping elderly people with daily tasks in their own home is a domestic role, because the robot works in a household setting. Vacuum and mopping robots clean floors at home. Welding car panels is a factory task. Lawn-mowing robots do the job for people, saving their time and effort. They do not change how plants grow. Domestic robots do household jobs like cleaning windows, floors and mowing lawns. Industrial robots work in factories.
Common mistakes: A vacuum robot is a domestic robot that cleans floors. Mowing lawns is a job for a lawn-mowing robot. The line should be ' vacuum robot cleans floor'. The condition does not match the lawn robot's job. A lawn-mowing robot should act when the grass is too long, so line 1 should be 'IF grass is too long THEN'.
