Understanding Keyboard shortcuts: copy, paste and undo in Years 7–8 Data & Information
What it does: Ctrl+C copies what you selected and Ctrl+V pastes the copy where your cursor is. Mac computers use the Cmd key where Windows uses Ctrl, so saving is Cmd+S on a Mac. Ctrl+Z undoes your last action. Ctrl+X cuts the text, which removes it but does not undo anything. Ctrl+F opens the find box so you can search for a word on the page. Ctrl+S saves. On a Mac, most shortcuts use the Cmd key instead of Ctrl, so copy is Cmd+C. Shortcuts save time. Many, like copy and paste, work in lots of programs. You copy first with Ctrl+C. Then you paste with Ctrl+V in the new spot.
Common mistakes: Ctrl+X cuts text. Paste is Ctrl+V, so line 3 should say 'Press Ctrl+V to paste it'. Ctrl+C copies text. Undo is Ctrl+Z, so line 2 should say 'Press Ctrl+Z to undo a typo'.
