Collaborating with comments and suggestions
A setting where your edits show as proposed changes, not final ones. The file owner can accept or reject each one, and comments can be resolved when finished.
Understanding Collaborating with comments and suggestions in Years 7–8 Data & Information
What it does: Switching to Suggesting mode means your changes are only proposals until the file owner accepts them. Accepting a suggestion makes the proposed change part of the final file. Typing @ and a name is an @mention. It tags that person so they get notified about your comment. A suggested edit proposes a change to the text. A comment is a note that does not change the text. Resolving a comment marks it as finished and tidies up the file. The comment is not lost and can be reopened. Resolve is the button used to close off a comment thread when the feedback has been dealt with.
Common mistakes: Viewing mode only lets you read the file, so you can't make edits. To propose changes the owner can accept or reject, use mode ← Suggesting. Owners accept or reject suggested edits. Resolve is for comments. The line should be owner.accept(edit).
