A short list of habits that keep your footprint safe: what you will share, which trusted adults you will tell, and which settings you will check. Review it each term.

Understanding Making my personal online safety plan in ACARA Digital Technologies Years 5–6

What it does: This shows the sharing part of a plan, with a list of safe things and a list of private things. A plan lists real trusted adults so you know exactly who to go to when something upsetting happens. Checking privacy settings helps you control who can see your posts and your footprint. A good plan names who you will tell. Telling a trusted adult keeps you safe. Apps, settings and friends change. Reviewing your plan each term keeps it up to date. The broken plan skips the review step, which is a key part of a personal online safety plan.

Common mistakes: A safety plan says to tell a trusted adult when you are unsure. Hiding a problem keeps you unsafe. The line should be: I will tell Mum if I am unsure. A passphrase is private and must never be on a list of things you can share. It belongs on the list of things you will not share. Safe examples are hobbies or art.
