Wired communications technology
Technology that carries data through physical cable between fixed connection points, offering high speed and reliability but no mobility.
Understanding Wired communications technology in VCE Cyber Security
What it does: Wired connections are known for their reliability and fast speeds. Setting up a wired connection means fixed cabling and limited mobility. Physical cable is what defines wired communications technology. Wired links avoid interference issues common to wireless signals. Wired devices are limited by the length and placement of the cable. Running physical cable through a building takes time and cost. Wired technology trades mobility for speed and reliability. Ethernet is a widely used example of wired networking technology.
Common mistakes: Wired technology uses physical cable, not radio waves - that's wireless. Wired technology is known for high reliability, not a lack of it.
