Health Privacy Principle 4
Requires organisations to take reasonable steps to keep health information accurate, complete, and up to date.
Understanding Health Privacy Principle 4 in VCE Cyber Security
What it does: Reasonable steps involve actively working to keep records accurate and complete. Incorrect or outdated health information can lead to poor decisions being made. Keeping information accurate is a core requirement of Principle 4. Outdated records may no longer reflect a patient's current situation. Principle 4 requires accuracy and currency, so leaving records inaccurate goes against it. Regular checks help catch errors and keep information current.
Common mistakes: Line 1 says to let data be inaccurate, but Principle 4 requires health information to be kept accurate. Line 2 says to allow incomplete records, but health information should be kept complete.
