USB device detection and drivers
When a USB device is plugged in, the computer automatically detects it and loads the driver it needs, so the device works straight away with no need to restart.
Understanding USB device detection and drivers in IGCSE Computer Science Paper 1
What it does: Automatic detection is the first part of plug and play, so no manual setup is needed. Plug and play means the driver is loaded automatically and the user does not need to restart the computer. With USB, the operating system detects the new device and loads the driver it needs without the user doing anything.
Common mistakes: Plug and play starts when the device is plugged in. Removing it would not start detection. Line 1 should be PLUG_IN(usb_device). The computer detects a USB device automatically. It does not restart to find it. Line 2 should be detected ← DETECT(device).
