URL part: the web page or file name
The last part of a URL. It names the web page or file wanted: folders (the path) then the file name, like shoes.html. With no file name, the server sends a default page.
Understanding URL part: the web page or file name in IGCSE Computer Science Paper 1
What it does: The extension after the dot tells the browser what type of file is wanted, and .html means a web page. The folders images and logos make up the path, and school.png is the file name at the end. If no file name is given, the web server sends a default page, usually the site's home page. The URL names the file, and the web server holds it. The protocol (http or https) only says how to request it.
Common mistakes: URLs separate folders and the file name with forward slashes (/), not backslashes. It should be https://a.com/men/hat.html. The file name includes its extension. The file name is toys.html, not just toys.
