Matching a browser function to a need
A browser tool that meets a user need: bookmarks return to a favourite site, tabs open many pages at once, history finds an old page, back goes one page.
Understanding Matching a browser function to a need in IGCSE Computer Science Paper 1
What it does: Tabs let several web pages stay open in one browser window so the user can work on them at once. The back button goes one page back along the pages visited in that tab. Bookmarks save the address of a site you like so you can return to it with one click. History is a automatic list of pages visited, not a chosen shortlist. A bookmark stores the site address for later, while tabs do not remember sites after they are closed.
Common mistakes: Returning to a favourite site is solved by bookmarks, which save the page for later. History is for finding pages you visited before. The line should be tool = "bookmarks". Working on several pages at once needs multiple tabs. The back button only moves you one page back. The line should be tool = "tabs".
