Motherboard
The main circuit board inside a computer. It connects the CPU, RAM, storage and ports so all components can send data to each other.
Understanding Motherboard in Years 5–6 Digital Systems
What it does: The code shows the motherboard linking the CPU, RAM and storage together, which is its main job. The CPU sending data to RAM across the motherboard is an example of communication between components. The CPU, RAM and storage all connect to the motherboard. Outputs like monitors connect through ports, but they are not the only things connected. The motherboard has slots for RAM. The RAM sits in a slot so it can send data to the CPU through the board. Slots are sockets on the motherboard where parts can be added or replaced, such as RAM or other expansion cards.
Common mistakes: The closing bracket is missing. The line should be motherboard.append("storage") so storage is added to the motherboard list. The list has only two items, at index 0 and 1, so slots[2] is out of range. It should be slots[1] to pick the second RAM slot.
