Logging out on shared devices
Ending your session on an account so the next person using a shared device, like a school or library computer, cannot open or use your account.
Understanding Logging out on shared devices in Years 5–6 Digital Systems
What it does: Choosing Never stops the browser storing your login, so the next person cannot sign in as you. Logging out only ends your session. Your account and its data are still safe and you can log in again later. A saved password on a shared device lets the next student sign in as you. Do not save passwords on shared devices. Locking the screen stops others from using your open session while you are away. Use it for short breaks and log out when you are finished. Never use someone else's open account. Log them out without looking and let a trusted adult know.
Common mistakes: On a shared device you should never save your password, because the next person could use it. It should be save_password = False. Closing a tab does not end your session, so your account may still be open. You must call log_out() before walking away.
