Describing a digital system and its network
A full description of a digital system: it names the hardware components and software, shows the link to a network, and explains what each part does.
Understanding Describing a digital system and its network in Years 5–6 Digital Systems
What it does: The arrows and the Wi-Fi label show how the device connects to a network and then on to the internet. A full description does not just name a part, it also explains what the part does, as this label does for the CPU. A complete description names the components and software, and shows how the system connects to a network. An operating system is software. A monitor is an output device, which is hardware. Explaining each part's function is one of the three things a complete description includes. A complete description must show the connection, for example by adding Laptop <--Wi-Fi--> Router.
Common mistakes: The system name is text, so it needs quotes. It should be system = "Tablet". Chrome is software, not a hardware component. The hardware list should only hold physical parts such as "CPU" and "SSD".
