What to do about cyberbullying
If someone bullies you online, do not reply. Save the evidence, block and report the person, then tell a trusted adult. You can help a friend who is being bullied in the same way.
Understanding What to do about cyberbullying in ACARA Digital Technologies Years 5–6
What it does: A screenshot saves the evidence. It shows the message even if the person deletes it later. You can help a friend by saving the evidence, reporting the bullying and telling a trusted adult. A screenshot is proof. If you delete it, a trusted adult or the app can't see what happened. Blocking stops them from messaging you. Reporting tells the app or site so they can take action. Remember: Don't reply. Save. Block. Report. Tell. The first step is to not reply. Answering back can keep the bullying going.
Common mistakes: Replying to a bully can make things worse. The line should be ' do not reply'. You need to keep the evidence so an adult can see what happened. The line should be ' save the evidence'.
