Mobile phone network
The way a smartphone joins a network through mobile phone towers, so it works without a cable or Wi-Fi, even in places with no Wi-Fi.
Understanding Mobile phone network in ACARA Digital Technologies Years 5–6
What it does: Mobile data works through mobile towers, so the phone can still get online in places with no Wi-Fi. Wi-Fi connects to a nearby router, while mobile data connects to a mobile tower. They are two different ways to join a network. The router at home only reaches a short distance. Mobile towers cover a much wider area.
Common mistakes: A smartphone joins a mobile network, not a wired one. A wired network needs cables. It should be network = mobile_network. There is no Wi-Fi at the campsite, but a mobile tower is in range. The phone connects through the tower using mobile data, so it should be can_connect = tower_in_range.
