A free printable IGCSE Computer Science Paper 2 word scramble with 6 key terms, built from the key terms of 7d Standard Methods of Solution (Modules 275–285) — Reading and changing array elements, Looping through an array with FOR (7d), Standard methods of solution, Totalling: how it works, Totalling in Cambridge pseudocode, Tracing a totalling algorithm and more. Print it or save it as a PDF — the answer key starts on its own page. No login needed.

Word scramble

Unscramble the letters and write each key term on the line.

1
KMARS[3]
Refers to one element of the array Marks by its index, here 3. You can read it or assign to it, e.g. ______ ← 55. An index outside the array bounds causes an error.
2
OFR XDNEI ← 1 OT 01
A loop whose counter is the array index. Inside it, Marks[Index] picks each element in turn, so the loop visits every item from position 1 to 10 once.
3
DDTASARN TODEHM
A tried-and-tested algorithm for a common task, such as totalling, counting, max/min, average, linear search or bubble sort, that programmers reuse instead of inventing a new solution.
4
OLTAT ← ATLTO + AEVUL
Totalling keeps a running sum. Set Total to 0 before the loop, add each Value to Total inside the loop, then output Total after the loop. Counting adds 1 each time instead of the value.
5
ATLOT ← OALTT + EBURNM
Adds each new Number to the running Total every time the loop repeats. Set Total ← 0 before the loop so the total starts from zero.
6
OUNCT ← TCNUO + 1
Counting adds 1 to a counter each time something happens. Start the counter at 0, add 1 (not the item's value), and do it for every item or only for matches.

1KMARS[3] → Marks[3] — Refers to one element of the array Marks by its index, here 3. You can read it or assign to it, e.g. Marks[3] ← 55. An index outside the array bounds causes an error.
2OFR XDNEI ← 1 OT 01 → FOR Index ← 1 TO 10 — A loop whose counter is the array index. Inside it, Marks[Index] picks each element in turn, so the loop visits every item from position 1 to 10 once.
3DDTASARN TODEHM → standard method — A tried-and-tested algorithm for a common task, such as totalling, counting, max/min, average, linear search or bubble sort, that programmers reuse instead of inventing a new solution.
4OLTAT ← ATLTO + AEVUL → Total ← Total + Value — Totalling keeps a running sum. Set Total to 0 before the loop, add each Value to Total inside the loop, then output Total after the loop. Counting adds 1 each time instead of the value.
5ATLOT ← OALTT + EBURNM → Total ← Total + Number — Adds each new Number to the running Total every time the loop repeats. Set Total ← 0 before the loop so the total starts from zero.
6OUNCT ← TCNUO + 1 → Count ← Count + 1 — Counting adds 1 to a counter each time something happens. Start the counter at 0, add 1 (not the item's value), and do it for every item or only for matches.
